- Ranked among the top 3% in the transport industry
- Total emissions reduced by approximately 14% in 2024
- Latest Sustainability Report documents milestones, including a new biofuel solution for customers
Berlin, July 22, 2025. Digital freight forwarder Forto made significant progress in its sustainable transformation in 2024, earning the EcoVadis Silver Medal. This places Forto among the top 9% of all companies assessed and, within the transport industry, among the top 3%. The company recently achieved an approximate 14% reduction in emissions – a crucial step towards its net-zero goal by 2050. Further insights into Forto’s development are available in the new 2024 Sustainability Report.
“The rating result is a milestone for us, especially because EcoVadis has tightened its requirements since 2023, and we were still able to improve from Bronze to Silver,” said Guillaume Petit-Perrin, CEO at Forto. “This is all the more significant as the EcoVadis assessment is a prerequisite for strong business relationships with our customers and is increasingly in demand.”
The assessment result reflects the quality of Forto’s sustainability management system. The digital freight forwarder improved its overall score by nine points to 73 out of 100 compared to the previous year. In the individual category of Environment, Forto achieved 87 points, placing it in the top 1% of transport-related companies. In the area of sustainable procurement, Forto scored 80 points, also ranking it among the top 1%.
EcoVadis is the leading provider of sustainability assessments for global supply chains and evaluates companies in four key areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The rating is based on approximately 200 questions and requires concrete, verifiable evidence in the form of policies, reports, and certificates.
Ambitious climate targets and measurable progress
A key driver of Forto’s continuous improvements is its consistent pursuit of climate targets validated by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This commitment is documented in the current 2024 Sustainability Report. Forto has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions along its value chain by 2050*. All set targets are in line with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement and are thus the most ambitious targets possible in the SBTi process.
(*In concrete terms, this means that Forto is obliged to reduce its absolute greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 90 per cent by 2050, compared to the base year 2021. The remaining emissions are to be neutralised in accordance with SBTi criteria.)
In 2024, Forto made significant strides towards net-zero: the company reduced its total emissions by approximately 14% to 133,109 tons of CO2e.
Sustainable logistics offerings and marine protection
A central component in achieving this significant reduction was the introduction of “Insetting Light” as a new standard product in sea and air freight. This scalable biofuel solution allows customers to cost-effectively reduce their transport emissions. 60% of Forto’s customers already utilize the company’s climate protection measures. Additionally, Forto introduced a new electric fleet strategy to fully electrify its company car fleet by 2030.
Beyond climate protection, Forto is comprehensively committed to sustainability. The company supports the prevention of marine plastic: in 2024, 14,500 kilograms of river waste were recovered and processed by partner Plastic Fischer in Indonesia.
Diversity and social responsibility
Forto also showed positive development in terms of social aspects and responsible corporate governance. The adjusted gender pay gap is less than 1%. 36% of management positions are held by women. In 2024, the company also launched the “Women at Forto” and “Queerties” initiatives to specifically empower its employees.
Leadership in Sustainable Transformation
“The logistics industry is facing a turning point. With initiatives like Insetting Light and Ocean Plastic Prevention, we are demonstrating that ecological responsibility and economic success are not mutually exclusive,” summarizes Guillaume Petit-Perrin. “We want to be a pioneer in the sustainable transformation of the logistics sector. EcoVadis awarding us as one of the best companies in the industry encourages us to consistently continue on this path – together with our customers, employees, and partners.”
