Milan, 13th of October 2025 – Forto, a leading provider of digital freight forwarding solutions, has appointed Matteo Caiti as Country Manager Italy. The appointment was announced at yesterday’s exclusive customer event in Milan and marks the next step in strengthening Forto’s market position in Italy. Together with industry representatives, Forto discussed current developments in international trade. At the centre was the question: how can digital platforms like Ship by Forto make supply chains more transparent, efficient and resilient?

Around one hundred participants exchanged views on the central challenges of global trade: the effects of geopolitical uncertainties, rising logistics costs and the growing importance of digital platforms in driving efficiency and transparency. Particular attention was paid to how technology can help identify bottlenecks at an early stage, automate processes and make international flows of goods more resilient.

New course under Matteo Caiti

“Our objective is clear: we aim to establish Forto in Italy as a leading logistics partner by relentlessly optimizing processes, deploying digital solutions and AI, and ensuring short response times and high service quality at every step,” says Matteo Caiti, Forto’s new Country Manager Italy. “With Ship by Forto, we provide a central platform through which companies can digitally book, track and manage transports – transparently, efficiently and with a significantly reduced administrative workload. This gives clients full control over their shipments at all times – from planning to arrival, greatly enhancing the customer experience.”

Matteo Caiti brings over 15 years of international experience in supply chain operations as well as SMB and Global Key Account sales. In senior roles at Kühne+Nagel, he managed complex global freight operations end‑to‑end and customer solutions. He specializes in driving digital transformation through cloud‑based logistics to optimize performance, reduce costs and strengthen resilience across international networks.

“With Matteo, we are gaining a leader who combines operational depth with a proven track record in digital transformation,” says Guillaume Petit-Perrin, CEO of Forto. “His mandate is to drive Forto’s next phase of growth in Italy by building strong partnerships with our customers and scaling our freight and technology capabilities together.”

Italy as a key market

Founded in Berlin in 2016, Forto is now among Europe’s leading providers of digital forwarding solutions. The company works with more than 2,500 business customers across Europe from a wide range of industries – from small and medium‑sized enterprises to multinational corporations.

Since 2022, Forto has maintained an office in Milan that centralises sales and customer service. From there, Forto supports Italian business customers in handling international transports – with a focus on sea freight (FCL/LCL) and air freight. The goal is to develop stable, partnership‑based relationships rather than competing on price in the short term.

“Italy is a strategic growth market for Forto. Under Matteo’s leadership, we will strengthen our position by combining operational excellence with digital and AI-powered solutions. Our ambition is clear: to make shipping for Italian companies as simple and reliable as sending an email, while delivering measurable value to their businesses”, says Forto’s CEO Guillaume Petit‑Perrin. “Our goal now is to further expand our market position in Italy and deliver measurable business value for our customers.”
