We consider sustainability
as our purpose

  • We are deeply committed to sustainability and take active steps towards making a positive impact on our planet, its people, and their well-being. We aim to consider the impact of all company decisions on future generations, the environment, the well-being of all people, and the long-term health of the economy.

    As a sustainability front runner, we combine impactful internal initiatives with a state-of-the art sustainable logistics offering. To formalize our commitment, we also put in place science-based targets (SBTs).

Mangrove planting
in Vietnam

In July 2022, Forto's Vietnam team planted over 2,200 mangroves in Tra Vinh province, achieving a 95% survival rate today. These trees enhance coastal protection, act as a barrier against tsunamis, and absorb 37 to 47 tons of CO2e annually.

World Clean-up
Day

Forto annually joins the World Cleanup Day, uniting millions of people to combat waste pollution. Last year, over 85 employees from 8 offices participated, cleaning local neighborhoods and spreading awareness. We're excited to continue our involvement in the coming years.

Womxn
at Forto

At Forto, over 40% of employees identify as womxn. Quarterly gatherings foster experience exchange, mutual support, and advocacy for a more equitable workplace. Open to all genders, these meetings encourage listening and learning to better support womxn.

Sustainability Ambassadors

At Forto, sustainability is a shared responsibility, with over 40 Sustainability Ambassadors bridging teams like Sales and Engineering with the sustainability team. They drive change, integrate sustainability into daily processes, and foster a culture of positive, ground-up transformation.

Vegetarian
food policy

Forto’s food-related emissions are reduced by up to 50% through only offering vegetarian or vegan options in the office and at company events. Additionally, all of our snacks and drinks in the offices are organic and locally sourced.

Certifications and Ratings

    We formalized our commitment to act in line with the 1.5°C trajectory outlined in the Paris Agreement by setting verified Science Based Targets.

    Forto is committing to the most ambitious target possible, going beyond the “well below two degrees” approach, encompassing emissions from scopes 1 to 3, taking into consideration a near-term horizon (until 2030) as well as a long-term one (until 2050), and including the commitment to neutralize remaining emissions by 2050.

Near-term targets

Forto commits to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Forto also commits to reducing absolute well-to-wake scope 3 GHG emissions from subcontracted container shipping operations 35.6% within the same timeframe. Forto finally commits to reducing all other absolute scope 3 emissions 42% within the same timeframe.
Long-term targets

Forto commits to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2021 base year. Forto also commits to reducing absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 90% within the same timeframe.
