What is a commodity inspection?

In some cases, the responsible customs authority might decide to inspect your shipment physically. This can be due to suspicion or be part of random checking. This process usually results in delays and is associated with extra costs, which will be forwarded to the consignee.

If the customs authority finds the shipment and the adjacent papers to be in order, the shipment will be delivered as planned. If the shipment fails the inspection, any follow-up steps will be communicated by the federal customs agency.
